Fire Safety Order
It is not uncommon for the person responsible person for a building to neglect fire protection as a priority. This is often because fire protection often appears secondary to the main role of such individuals.
Some feel that they can buy and install fire protection at their premises themselves without involving a professional fire company. We would strongly advise against this for two reasons:

New fire equipment must be commissioned by a ‘competent person’. Upon removal from its packaging and transit protection, and immediately before placing in its designated place, it must undergo a sequence of commissioning service actions described within BS 5306-3.

Certain types of extinguishers are highly dangerous under certain conditions (such as confined or unventilated spaces) and could be life-threatening.
It is vital that the correct equipment is present (i.e. fire alarm, fire extinguishers, emergency lights etc.), and to be confident that your fire equipment on site will operate correctly in an emergency, regular servicing is required.
